Waiting on Snow

It may be the last chance
To delight in snowflakes falling
in the night sky
Landing on my face
Like kisses when you’re falling in love

Let the cold come quickly
Wind, come and stir our spirits
to the new that is trying so hard
to emerge.

I opened the door of my heart to see
And suddenly ….
there it was
Joy on my doorstep
Piling up on the branches
of trees that hold the stories of
snows that have fallen here before.
They lingered in memory just for
this day.

Waiting on snow
Like waiting on love
Arriving like
Joy on my doorstep
Unpredictable and
perfectly on time.

  • oh, I love the hope and joy found, even in the cold days of winter. May I share this with Sango UMC? Thanks, Ellen

  • Dear Vona, As I sit at my table looking out at about 5 inches of snow on the ground, the thermometer reading 4 degrees above, and, in my mind growling, “enough already”, I needed your perspective this morning. After all, the sun feels warm on my face as I look out from a warm home. After all, someone has plowed the roads and the car will warm up eventually and it’s already getting light earlier in the morning and I am alive and relatively healthy, and looking forward to a rich worship experience with my friends at the assisted living facility where I volunteer. It’s not spring yet, but spring will come, and life is good even now. Peace and Love, Roger

    • What a wonderful gift, Roger, to imagine you watching the snow from your warm place! Even as I wait for the snow tonight, I appreciate the hope and promise of spring. We are blessed to have seasons to remind us.

Thank you for reading. It blesses me to know.
